Luxury we said to each other. Then thought about it.
OK, so most other people’s idea of luxury is something like sitting in a jacuzzi drinking champagne , but for us, it’s something like having enough compost bins (ok I could force down the booze).
Last year we built some temporary ones in the orchard – less than ideal as it uses up precious grazing, and we have had to be careful what we put on them, as the lambs are inclined to climb in and eat… but finally our plans have come together, my son got his new shed, and tore down the old one, and in its place.. actually using some of the old shed, we have built two new huge compost bays.. bring the total up to five.
Luxury I tell you.
I laughed at this, partly in recognition. 🙂
Compost bins were the first thing we built when we moved here. As for luxury – how about sat in front of the new compost bins with a glass of home-made elderflower champagne 😉
us too – well we commandered the old pigsties into compost bins. but we fill them…
elderflower champagne not ready yet.. we are in the elderflower drink gap!
My elderflower champagne exploded last year so none here either. I’m going to try again this year, follow the recipe better and put it in proper bottles, not plastic fizzy water bottles. Wish me luck and maybe after a while I can toast your new compost bins 😉
good luck!
It isn’t easy to tell un-gardening friends about the joy of having a decent compost bin! You have an audience here which understands about these things!
Lovely blog- I’m glad I found it!
