We have, I think, finally reached the turning point with grass.
When I went to visit the sheep this afternoon, they barely looked up at the clunk of the gate, let alone rushed over to be bleating about hunger.
We stayed up stupidly late last night trying to work out what to do re sheep this year – should we lamb again? buy store lambs? reduce our flock? will we get Betty up to weight? Can Saffie justify her place if we dont lamb (really we have lots of black wool. People give black wool away..). We now have a plan. And we reserve the right to change it!
And lots of it depends. Depends on how we get on with himself being home more often, depends if we ever get to putting up the new lambing shed/animal shelter, depends on what their fleeces are like, depends on how Betty does
meanwhile, more rain forecast later in the week, which is good for grass.
We have those sorts of plans – we’ll definitely do something …. unless …….
🙂 This year ours seem to be there’s always next year.
CIG sounds intriguing.
