Whenever there is a village gathering of some sort, we go along,, and although I’m not much of a joiner, it always surprises me just how many people in the area I know. It’s a small place, but not too small so as to be oppressive. Just a comfortable level of community.
Twenty years ago, the community gathered funds and bought a small parcel of land by the river, and now it is available to the public, with its little meadow, river, weir and leat. Today they celebrated. ‘There was beer, and barbecue, music and cream teas. The forecast was terrible, but also wrong.
Nice to be part of it, not just to sit in the sun listening to music, drink in hand, saying hello to friends and neighbours, but also a part of a community that pulls together for something good like this little nature reserve /park.
