This morning we had the fireplace work looked at and ticked off, and we are all set to move ahead with installing the new range.. just as soon as we have sorted out what to do with the hearth. In the meantime, the weather was warm but not as hot as it has been, a little cloudy and being nearly the school holidays, an excellent moment to dash out for a family jolly.
We drove up to Two Bridges and walked to Wistman’s wood Only a short walk but worth it and of course by then the cloud had ‘burnt off’ and the heat beat down on us as we walked in the midday sun. Hooray for factor 50! The woods were as beautiful as ever, with the ancient twisted oaks, and it was wonderfully cool in there.
And we wandered back and lunched on cream tea.
I had thought it hot up there on the moors, but only when we returned home did we realise how much fresher it was up there.
More work in the kitchen, some outdoors things, the endless watering (water butts are emptying one by one) and a barbecue to finish the day.
