How did that happen? how did we arrive in May all of a sudden? It arrived with a cold and nasty snap.
And now the rush is on for sowing all of those frost tender things. I’ve been holding back, as sowing too early is always a mistake as you end up having to put things out when they get too big… then fretting over every frost. But I have so much so sow, and it all takes up time and greenhouse space.
And there are all the other things going on, in a standard day: driving my son to his courses, home ed, wiping a hen’s eye, trying to get on top of my acounts, cleaning out the ducklings, changing the mucovies water, selling eggs, planting peas, trying to arrange a shearer, arranging some hatching eggs, evicting a broody from the hen house, and checking on another and finding a chick under her wing, building a duckling pen.
It’s all go at this time of year, but it is fun, and full of new life and new beginnings.
