what are nettles good for #5 - nettle pasta
After making the nettle beer, I was left with a panful of nettle pulp with a few bits of lemon peel. I picked these out and thought… seems a shame to have done all that tedious nettle picking and then throw them away and only keep the [...]

Now have a water butt set up for the greenhouse. Up until now, we have been collecting rainwater.. but not in the right place. We have a 400 gallon ex-juice container collecting off the old piggery, but to get water to the greenhouse means filling up two watering cans, walking up the lane, up the [...]

It’s been three weeks. Three weeks ago we were sitting in front of the fire on a cold wintry day, himself spinning, me knitting, when the lambing began, and with that spring popped into place. Today it popped out again, and back into winter. April often seems like that: the fight between winter and spring. [...]

Rain. so much that the fields are waterlogged, even though it’s hilly… not good for the sheep feet.. the ground is poaching, but at least the grass is growing.
We have been saying a rainy weekend would be fine - we have so much to do inside the house.. yet always we seem to end up [...]

One of my favourite hobbies is starting knitting projects. I love it.. the new yarn.. the deciding what to make.. casting on..seeing how it knits up. Problem is, I’m not always great at finishing projects.
I have completed lots of things.. but my home is littered with the remains of UFOs (unfinished objects) , some of [...]

We have been washing and carding the black fleece we were given, and himself has been working his way though it, spinning. Definitely a lot less ‘novelty’ yarn coming out now, and noticeable increase in speed.
It turns out you can just buy a spinning wheel and get on with it.
I’m hoping to get enough to [...]
