this page is the bloggy side of colour it green , a website I started just to store handy links and recipes etc, and it kind of grew.
Here I can witter away about this part of our lives; growing veg, keeping livestock, making things and crafts and home education, and keep the facts there on the main website.
We have sheep, chickens, and lots of veg plots, and jobs. We are only part time small holding, having only 2 acres to play with, and do consider ourselves lucky and enjoy what we have.
we are red (scruffy red-head) himself (scruffy other half) and our son. We live in Devon, UK

Have been meaning to ask for a while, why did you decide on ‘Colour It Green’ for your website?
its not very exciting… We wanted our own domain name.. something we could keep with us, even if we changed isp.. and pondered what to call it.. and we both like the colour green…
we get free webspace with our isp, so I started to stick links for home ed on it.. as I lose bits of paper.. and then some recipes.. as himself loses them.. or at least used to use that excuse.. then started to build the webpage up for fun.. then started blogging too…
Hi
Love the website and the blog, best of luck with what you are doing.
Gert
thanks Gert.. you too
Ooh – Devon! Us too.
What a fabulous blog. My sister has just embarked on the green way of living and I have great respect for anyone who can cut the ties of the rat race and get back to nature.
If you find that apple wine recipe would you be willing to share? I love making jam, pickles, chutneys but I’m not so hot on wine making…I have tried but it’s never been good enough to drink! Damson gin is about as good as it gets so far.
Good luck with the future
Emma
thanks Emma
if i find the recipe, I’ll surely share it!
You’ve been nominated for the Reader Appreciation Award. If you like to play along with such antics, pick it up at http://colourcottage.wordpress.com/2012/10/09/reader-appreciation-award/ If you don’t, your blog is still appreciated.
Im so glad I found this……we are starting a new life next year and are house-hunting and hoping to become self sufficient like yourselves….I have been absolutely terrified (being a “towny” and hubby a “bumpkin”). I stayed up late last night reading your blogs and I now feel less terrified and a little excited so thankyou, I really feel we can do it and you have given me such inspiration and also have fought long and hard with schooling for my son who is autistic and has special needs. January the 1st is the start of our new life, and thanks to you it seems a little brighter, and on a comical note – I am still laughing about “suicidal sheep”,I look forward to reading more from you and good luck in the future x
good luck with your new plans!
