Really blustery today, but thankfully dry. It did mean we lost some of the damson crop – the eight was reduced to five! – I harvested what was left and himself is munching them every time he passes.  Picked the sunset apples – not a bad haul for their first year. We shall have those as eaters – the long term plan is for juicing.  I encouraged our son to harvest the apples from his mini scrumptious tree.. it was laden and thrashing about in the wind.  I’m quite taken with these mini trees.. we might have to get some more to put in the flower garden.

We gave the sheep their pre-ram pedicure, as we have arranged to borrow the ram later this week – Saffie the half Zwartbles is really big and difficult to turn.. it takes both of us! – I do hope the ram is tall enough….

We also measured the pigs, estimate their weight to be around 85k…I had been saying they looked massive.. so they are booked in for slaughter. The queue means they get a few more weeks.

The rest of today, apart from work: blackberries picked, first of the baby sweetcorn picked and eaten, damson vodka started, and damson cordial and jelly in progress (from the donated damsons). More red cabbage braised, more tomatoes roasted.

time for a sit down, methinks.
