Yesterday it rained all day. The water butts are full and overflowing, and the fridge full of cabbages to save them from being split.
Today though – sunshine, and its hot and humid. We did a lot of weeding – something we are bad at getting around to but needs must, and the wet earth makes it easier. . So the sugarbeet was found, as were the leeks, and the dwarf French beans.
And a bonus there, as I found some sizable beans lurking in the undergrowth, so we had our first taste along with roast leg of mutton, freshly dug spuds and cabbage of course.
For pud I made wild strawberry pancakes, and we had it with homemade ‘plain’ (nothing plain about it – lovely yolky, creamy) icecream. Lovely.
