No, not together!
It seems that it is a good year for strawberries.. everyone keeps saying how they can’t pick the fast enough..etc. pity we don’t have a strawberry patch then really. Must get around to that. but we do have a lot of wild strawberries growing in the garden and in the green lane, and small though they are, they do pack a lot of flavour in. We’ve been picking for a few weeks now, and they are really good now. I can’t quite decide which is better.. creme brulee with the wild strawberries lurking at the bottom, or thrown into pimms. I guess I shall just have to experiment more!
Today was the first picking of the mange tout. I thought there would be just enough for tea, and ended up picking a colander full. As it goes, it was this date last year that we had them first too. What a great veg, they just keep on coming, and freeze well. And so today was also the start of the blanching and freezing season.
Haha – you need to read the post I wrote about 2 minutes ago (and the manetout harvest is good too so I’ll be freezing them tomorrow)
hmpf!
