The garlic has been drying out in the sunroom, as the August weather wasn’t going to dry much out, and now I have plaited it.
Looks a lot better than last year’s effort, as this time I looked up how to do it, and thanks to michelles-garden blog for step by step instructions. I did skip the part about soaking the stems, which is possibly why it is not quite as tightly braided as some, but it holds together well, and looks nice hanging up. Carefully removing the outer skins makes the garlic look much better.
Just have to do the rest now.
Oooh – nice looking garlic. Mine are pathetically small this year (as are my onions). Not sure why but fingers crossed they’ll do better next year.
yes, pleased with these – they are proper full sized! – the rest of my crop are not. seems compost and autumn sowing are the way forward.
if it is any consolation, my leeks are still the size of grass….
My leeks are doing quite well, thank goodness.
Very pretty! We forgot the garlic this year, but the onions at least did come alone well. Your plaits look a lot neater than mine though.
They look great!
not as good as yours. ah well…
