The haul of windfalls from yesterday, plus yet more of our own today was processed this afternoon. Himself dragged out his homemade apple press and set it up in the garage, as the rain was fairly steady. The apples were roughly chopped, then pulped in the bucket and drill blade arrangement, known as a pulpmaster.
Then the pulp was packed into ‘cheeses’ and the pot jack put in place, and out came the juice.
Last year we made cider, and this made me remember it, and a glass at this time seemed appropriate. It has improved still further, out of the realms of homebrew and into well.. proper cider. I had conditioned the bottles, so it is ever so slightly sparkling and very drinkable.. although clearly very strong, hence the wine glass!
This year though, we shall just make juice to drink.
