I always hated honeysuckle. My parents had one by their back door and it outgrew the space, extending tangly limbs to grab at my hair in a triffid like fashion as I tried to use the doorway. Urgh.
But now I like it. Seems we have a lot here, in the garden and growing wild in the hedges. It attracts bees, looks pretty, I like the flowers, I like the ‘ropes’ of purple stems.
And the smell, in the evening, when you come home of a night.. is wonderful
It can be used, harvested to make wine, but I like it just where it is. It just needs the right space to grow.
