Finally the rain has let up, so I dried a little washing, and got out into the garden. Well, as I said, we did get out into the garden yesterday to pick veg for tea, and got totally drenched in the process. Much drier experience today.
Planted yet another row of peas, that’s the fourth this year, not including the mange tout., planted some leeks. The ones I sowed direct into the seed bed are a miserable failure, these I raised indoors in pots, but was late putting them in, so don’t hold out a lot of hope. Next year its indoors for leek sowing, and nice and early.
Still watching the potatoes closely for blight, there are more and more reports of it, and the weather conditions are ideal for it… but no sign so far.
And, of course, all of the calabrese are coming at the same time. No surprise there, as they were planted at the same time, but this is fine as calabrese freezes so well. Picked eight heads today, and spent some of the evening cutting, blanching, freezing (trying to find freezer space – the mange tout has taken lots already) – ah who said romance is dead….
