as promised, here are pictures of our ‘chicks’ – they are about 3/4 size of the other hens. They are now 12 weeks old (makes you think about the rate those intensively farmed hens grow eh?)
They are supposed to be marans, and two black ones look like it.. but the golden browney one doesn’t much.

Well they are a lot more handsome than the mixed bag that I’m bringing on. I reckon the flashy looking one is the boy and the other two are girls. But I have been wrong in the past, though happily never where humans are concerned.
As you say, just HOW do “they” get a chicken to a weight worth killing it in only 42 days????
