The plumber came, connected the gas to our other cooker (other than the cold rayburn), himself wired the cooker to the cooker point we had in back along (duel fuel) and now we have the ability to cook without the rayburn. The kitchen looks gash.. we have to replasterboard.. since we don’t like the ‘wall papered hardboard look’, and of course all the other ongoing kitchen reconstructions. As I have already said, we have taken it to the worse point.. now it is starting to get better.
Best of all though.. is we now have a grill.. and having been without one for a year and a half , we have really missed it. People will tell you that you can grill in the top of a rayburn oven. Not so.. it does get hot there.. and you can cook.. but it is not the same as grilling. Cheese on toast in the rayburn comes out as cheese on crouton.
But today.. we had proper cheese on toast. heaven.
