a better day

Well, the remaining lamb, Rogan, has survived so far. I don’t think I shall ever rest easy, but tend to feel each day that passes puts him in a better position. He is gamboling over to his mum when she calls, having a tentative chew of grass, and sensibly tucking himself up with her at night. Can’t ask for more at this stage.
This all came at a convenient time as himself had a few days off work, and we are both dazed from the sheer lack of sleep - mostly due to the self inflicted vigil - though of course as our other two ewes could yet start lambing, we would be up some of that time anyways. How people cope when they have 100s I don’t know.. or rather I suspect they are rather more experienced and hardened than us.
On a brighter note, our broody hen which has been sitting for the required 21 days on a batch of eggs seems to have done well, as I heard chirping when I collected the other eggs today, and there.. fallen out of the nest, was a little black chick. I tucked him back in.
Not ideal.. falling out and all… but nice to know she has not been wasting her time.
