sheep watching
28 March 2008 by colouritgreen
We are obsessively sheep watching these days. The official due day is this Saturday, but you know what they say.. a watched ewe never lambs. well we have been saying it anyway.
Sharona is looking very pregnant:

I’m a tad worried about her, she is not eating as much as the others and everything seems difficult. Particularly lieing down. Her udder is large and in the way, she has to stick a leg out to accommodate it. Her condition has dropped a bit, and well she just seems to be finding it a hassle. Wish she would get on with lambing.. cannot help things will improve for her after that..
Here she is from behind:

definite saddle bags.. and udder.
I’m not at all convinced the others are pregnant, but..well they say maidens don’t necessarily show..and the ram was in for 5 weeks…. we shall see.
Sheila just looks round:

and whilst Shirley looks massive, with a table like back, she has the deepest thickest wool of the lot of them. She let me have a scratch and a feel of her, and I would condition her at 3 - her wool is as long as my hand from finger tips to wrist, on the top of her back.. so not sure there are any lambs there…
here is Shirley:

worrying, waiting times.
Sharona certainly looks as if she’s got a good bundle in there with the milk to accommodate them.
Have the other two sprung udders yet?
Good luck and I hope she lambs soon. The waiting is more trying than the lambing.
yes turned out to be a bundle of three!
the other two girls have no signs of udders at all, but we shall continue to watch them.
thanks for the good luck wishes!
