recycled wool

I have finally undone the cardi that I bought from the charity shop. 2150g of wool - I would guess aran weight, but have yet to assess that.
I wound it all into balls, but from there, after a weigh in (helps judge what I can make from it) I have wound it into skeins, to stop the yarn from becoming stretched. It is slightly crinkly from being knitted up, but not too bad at all, so I think I shall try knitting it up as is and see how it pans out; I can always go to the trouble of straightening it if necessary.
Obviously, for £2.50 for 2150g, it’s a bargain, although of course there was a lot of effort involved in unpicking it. It was not unpleasant work though, in front of the fire whilst himself was spinning, and makes me feel so good that although (I believe) somewhere someone put in a lot of effort to make a mistake, at least it wont be going to landfill now, but will make something nice for me!
Now I just have to find a suitable pattern, test the gauge and get knitting. This could take some time…
