indoors day

Rain. so much that the fields are waterlogged, even though it’s hilly… not good for the sheep feet.. the ground is poaching, but at least the grass is growing.
We have been saying a rainy weekend would be fine - we have so much to do inside the house.. yet always we seem to end up outside again, just accepting the wet.
Bitty sort of day, we went out and bought a new 5′ gate, for the new bit of field we are fencing, and I popped into ’spin a yarn’, which is a fabulous wool shop selling all those great yarns.. sock yarn, skeins and balls, chunky and fine, hand spun, big names and small local suppliers.. lovely.. unfortunately I did manage to buy some more yarn.. bad-me,when I have such a stash already.. but still I will stick to my knitting WIP plan.
Cleared some of the firewood from one of the stone sheds, found some dry rot.. got soaked, came in and started repointing a wall in the living room, as part of our ‘making living room pleasant’ plan. I say repoint, but the wall, an outside one, is really constructed out of stone and mud.. and the mud is loose and falling out (now that it has a chance to dry a little after we removed the hardboard covering), so really its scraping out the loose mud, inserting extra stones and lime plaster.. a slow process.
I sowed yet more seeds: peas, cauliflower and pricked out some of the tomatoes, and pickled some eggs.
Maybe tomorrow, we will be more organised about indoor work.. we just haven’t got the hang of it… always end up outside again!
