We spent a lot of today wondering what we could do to avoid damage in the storm predicted for tomorrow. Not much unfortunately, as the problems mostly relate to other people. Next door’s massive overgrown leylandii… I expect more will be down and other neighbour’s worn out roof… they lose slates each time.. and this is predicted to be the worst storm .. so apart from trying to move the car out of the way, putting a few pallets on the meal shed roof in the hope that they take some of the damage, that was it. We just have to wait and see.
Today was pretty spring like.. sun and heavy showers.. great for the vegetable plots and the grass. Not so good for us as we try and get stuff done. Problem is there is very little weather that stops us doing things outside.. so the house gets little of the DIY attention it craves.
We sowed more seeds.. carrots, garlic and beetroot in modules. We planted garlic at this time of year last year, and had a decent crop which we have only just finished. Most people will tell you to plant in the Autumn, so this year we have done both, to see how they work out.
Himself was very active and cut up huge amounts of the dead caravan and wood pile.. he is driven on as this is also clearing what will be the pig pen, and he is thinking of the bacon, pork, hams, sausages, crackling…..!
I’ve just set up a blog on WordPress from blogger, and the first link I saw was beansprouts - which I dip into sometimes!
btw - I regularly used to make lemon curd successfully in the microwave; should think there’d be a recipe somewhere on the internet - think you need slightly more liquid than normal.
