Decided today that the grass is just too short, and our ewes need a bit of extra feed. This
assessing their score and adjusting their feed is a difficult thing to decide..
To avoid fighting over the bucket, it was time to come up with a feed trough. So himself took apart some pallet from our wood heap. Getting the wood out of pallets undamaged is never easy, and we have found the best is to cut through the nails/staples with a chisel. Then he put together a simple yet sturdy feed trough. We have also been cutting some of the ivy that is strangling trees around the place, which they appreciate.
Having got into a making mood, he then went on to start constructing the extension to our field shelter, to give some protection to lambing ewes, and later (hopefully) lambs later. We fully intend to keep our girls outside, throughout lambing and afterwards, but you never know what the weather will do, etc.
