wall mostly down, dust mostly everywhere

We found out Saturday night that we can have the services of a brickie to come and put up our new wall on Tuesday.. which is excellent news as we thought the acroprop look would be with us for some months yet. Bad news was that old wall was still there.. so today himself went out to collect some bits (door frame kit, lintel etc) and my son and I starting taking the wall down! We are doing as much as we can ourselves and getting help in for the harder bits.
All three of us worked on it all day, and now we have no wall, but do still have a door frame and whats left of a beam - though mostly it’s holes. I’ll do some pictures tomorrow..
I do feel a bit bad for removing something so old, but it is also so decrepit, the clouds of dust were mostly made up of wood.. well beetle poo to be exact.. What wood was still wood shaped I could crumble with the lightest touch. Tomorrow the frame will have to come down, too - generating yet more dust. The dust is the depressing part (and I am known for not bothering with housework but still!) - its so thick and lays everywhere, as you clean it it goes up into the air again, and you start over. We all three wore dust masks, don’t bother with those cup shaped ones, we prefer the ones with a thick cotton pad. Building work will be going on all week, and the dust will be never ending. Home ed could be interesting too, with the mess and workmen in.. guess we will be doing more trips out..
DIY tip of the week: don’t sneeze with a dust mask on….
