Today is stir up Sunday, which is the day to make your Christmas pudding.
I have happy memories, as this is a tradition we always kept to as a family. Each child would be sent off to fetch so much sugar, grate a carrot etc, and my mum was chief in charge of the recipe. Now I have my own recipe but stick to the tradition, and we make our pudding on stir up Sunday every year.
A few years back I was buying my dried fruit from a shop, when I heard someone say to their friend ‘who makes Christmas puddings these days?’
well I do! And when you taste the difference, you will know why. But besides that… why give up on the opportunity of a wish?
We each get a wish as we stir the mixture, and the winner of the coin in their pudding gets their wish.. well apparently. Course, they don’t come true if you tell anyone, so I can’t let on too much.. but so far so good!
